The Berkeley Farm Project
The founding of Berkeley Farm
The closure of Leytonstone House Hospital in 1995 left many of its former residents with very little to do during the daytime. It was the firm belief of our founder Sidney Reeves that everyone can do something useful and everyone deserves the chance to do so. The vision for Berkeley Farm was to create this opportunity.
Special Needs Work Experience
The Berkeley Farm Project is a haven for adults with special needs to find a sense of responsibility and achievement, however small. By planting seeds in the greenhouse and watching them grow, cultivating the organic vegetables, collecting freshly laid eggs for lunch or making sure a rabbit is fed and comfortable, they feel they have made a contribution.
Our Mission:
Our mission at Berkeley Farm is to create a supportive working environment for our clients. We don’t just sit around drinking cups of tea (although there is a lot of that too!). Our ultimate aim is to provide a space where everyone feels useful and that they have accomplished something at the end of a hard day’s work.
